Global Excellence Awards 2017
“At NFI, we do our best to create our own path to innovation and not follow in other organizations footsteps. When we test a concept, we do it in a small way, monitor sales data, and then decide if it is something we should deliver to the national market. The majority of our team has never operated a brand on a national level in the OTC market so simple things like media buying was something our team had to teach ourselves. Because of this, we have been able to develop our own tactics without any pressure to adhere to usual practices.” Another key factor in the firm’s success is its professional and committed staff, who work collaboratively in order to ensure success, enjoying strong leadership and support in return, as Benjamin discusses. “Internally, at NFI our culutre is one of honesty and openness. Our CEO, Susan Gregory, has been an incredible leader during this growth time. She has been a wonderful guiding light for us, as well as, a great example for our team. She sets the tone for everything we do. The team is encouraged to freely discuss their opinions, thoughts and ideas on sales and marketing tactics in relation to the market. Our team can become very animated and passionate at times which shows our drive and desire to succeed. We find that when staff is allowed to be uninhibited by a stiff culture, the truly innovative ideas begin to pour out and a fear of failure mindset sets in. Our growth over the last three plus years has made us larger than brands we would have never dreamed of and we are competing against brands we shouldn’t be competing with. There is something about being the underdog that is constantly motivating our team. “Our team also has a healthy respect for our retail accounts. Both us and the retail accounts depend on each other and provide respect for each other. We see many companies and brands that will use dishonest tactics with retailers, we have a strict policy of honesty and integrity with our retailers and partners. We are not looking to the short term, this is a lifetime initiative for us, and we treat it as such.” Looking to the future, Benjamin is optimistic as he outlines how recent developments have positioned NFI for future growth and prosperity. “Overall, with the growth of Blue- Emu and the recent acquisition of EPT Pregnancy Test, NFI has placed itself in a ready to purchase mindset. As more distressed assets that require an injection of new marketing and sales innovation come to us, we are ready to act. We are constantly involved in potential product acquisitions to continue to grow the Nutrition & Fitness, Inc. portfolio and are excited for the opportunities that the future holds.
