CORPORATE VISION / Issue 5 2018 13 , Established in 2003, ihD Ltd is a Hong Kong-registered Private Limited Company, specialising in Technology (ELV, Audio-Visual, Acoustics, IT and Security) Design and Consultancy, and related periodic project monitoring during construction phases. We spoke to the firm’s President and Principal Consultant, Ian D. Harris as we looked for further insight into the achievements of the successful company. ihD are Turning Dreams into Reality Boasting a sterling reputation across Asia, ihD possesses offices in China, India, Malaysia, and the Philippines, whilst its Hong Kong head office directs the group, develops policies and standards, as well as executing projects Asia-wide. Ian outlined ihD’s overall mission, and what steps the firm takes to ensure that these clients’ expectations are matched and regularly exceeded. “Generally, at ihD our scope is to co-ordinate with the Client’s representatives, Project Managers, and other consultants and contractors to ensure their requirements are met, designing the systems, and producing a full set of Tender Documentation, as well as agreeing on the overall budget with the client. “At the design stage, we very often encounter challenges, reprimands, and demands or instructions to compromise the Design Standards. We are experts in our disciplines and are responsible to achieve our systems, design, results conformant with the Design Standards.” Differentiating the firm from its competitors is the team’s ability to be pro-active in its thinking and look to reach the desired outcome for its clients. Ian comments on what other attributes he believes help it to stand out within the industry. “As ihD has no distribution or supply of products, nor do we need to use products from one particular distributor or contractor, we are able to fully design systems to our client’s needs, with best-fit for their budget and needs. Also, we are able to objectively-assess their work, flagging up problems, issues and illegal substitutions to the Project Team. “Throughout the company, staff possess a wealth of experience and it is our practice to be hands-on with the appointed contractors, reviewing their work quality and progress, and actively participating in the Testing and Commissioning works. We take a positive approach to this process, choosing to sit down and re-train the contractor’s team, explain the reasons for change/correction, and generally apply our team’s experience and abilities to speedily bring about a successful result.” Overall, there looks to be a very exciting future ahead for ihD, as the team are full of potential and promise.
