Corporate Vision Sales Leadership Coach of the Year 2024 (UK): Michele Kruse & Excellence Award for 1-2-1 Sales Coaching 2024 Whether you are looking to drive your sales and performance, develop your leadership abilities, build highly skilled teams, or implement bespoke solutions tailored to the specific needs of your business, Blue Streak Performance is on hand to help. Owned and operated by industry innovator Michele Kruse, the company offers a comprehensive suite of services expertly designed to enhance and empower the performance of its clientele. Below, we speak with Michele to learn more about Blue Streak Performance’s journey of success in the wake of her achievements in the Small Business Awards 2024. Though Blue Streak Performance was founded in 2007, Michele Kruse’s journey began almost 40 years ago when she entered the corporate world. Here, she learned the impact that effective leadership and streamlined processes can have on a company’s success, and worked with a diverse array of leaders, teams, and SMEs across multiple sectors over the years. This direct experience has enabled Michele to develop a unique perspective of the universal challenges faced by businesses and has given her the expertise required to overcome them. Through Blue Streak Performance, Michele works across a broad spectrum of companies, ranging from entrepreneurs and solo traders to global corporations. She leverages more than two decades of professional experience within the development sector to craft tailored solutions that are based on the specific needs of each individual company. Michele is passionate about helping businesses achieve outstanding results, regardless of size or sector. “I focus on performance - of both the individual and the business,” shetells us.“Consideringthe structure ofthe solutions I would focus on, it could be broken into the development of the individual, the team, the leader, or the business. Depending on the particular need, that could be development via coaching, facilitation, or consulting. My solution focus areas revolve around reinvention, behavioural preferences, and mindset – clear factors that influence performance.” “I am because we are.” Blue Streak Performance is guided by the philosophy and principles of Ubuntu, a term from the Nguni Bantu languages of Southern Africa that is often translated into “I am because we are,” or sometimes “humanity towards others”. The term emphasises the interconnectedness of individuals within their communities and the broader world, embodying the principles of compassion, togetherness, empathy, virtue, and bonding. “These are the principles I operate my business under,” Michele tells us. “As an African that has worked all over the world with some of the most well-known global brands and is living in the UK, I do feel that I can bring a level of thought partnership to my clients that turns me into their partner, not provider, and hopefully that adds value for them.” Possessing ample perseverance and a strong business ethic, Michele ensures that Blue Streak Performance partners with companies sharing her values. By having a clear purpose when establishing the company, Michele has remained committed to the mission. Her goals and business plans may not have always been cast in stone, but as she tells us, “I think the fact that my “why” or “my purpose” was clear meant that I always knew what I was building for.” With a personal ethos of collaboration and abundance, Michele is instinctively always trying to collaborate and include different thinking partners wherever possible. Both the company’s and Michele’s own values of connectivity and inclusion have been the driving force behind many endeavours, including the recent purchase of a franchise with The Athena Network. A global women’s network business. Michele has purchased the Lincolnshire region. “As I and my business have matured, my client preference is shifting and I am now choosing to work with entrepreneurs and small businesses, with a focus on women in business,” she tells us. “Without having to belabour the point, women in business often encounter unique challenges—but they also bring a distinct and dynamic energy to the business world. The Athena Network is a business network crafted for women that enhances the strategic sales and networking development of its members, whilst providing them with a supportive and collaborative environment. Holding a steadfast belief in continual learning, Michele also includes her coaching services to the Lincolnshire members of The Athena Network as part of their membership. This commitment to development is also evident in Blue Streak Performance’s operations; whilst Michele does not hold permanent staff in her business, she is responsible for practitioners within her Insights distributorship. She cites their development as, the most fulfilling part of her role as an Insights distributor. Having spent much of her professional career within the development sector, Michele has successfully cemented Blue Streak Performance as a key player within the industry. This experience has enabled the company to establish a proven process when undertaking new projects that guarantees optimal results. Before starting a project, Michele finds it vital to spend time with the client and gain a clear understanding Oct24243

Small Business Awards 2024 | 7 of their objectives, needs, and how the changes will impact the business in the future. “It is always important for me that any coaching or facilitation is aligned to the business’s core strategic objectives; in other words, if the development is not going to have an impact on performance in some way, then it is not necessary,” she explains. “There needs to be a clear indication of how this development will impact either the person or the business, or both. If that is missing, we run the risk of there being a lack of commitment to whatever development is suggested.” The industry is highly competitive, and it is vital that businesses develop strong relationships with clientele that will stand the test of time. Trust is an important factor in business development and is what drives the success of Blue Streak Performance. For many of the projects it undertakes, the client has worked with Michele for years, which enables her to instil trust within her working relationships. She has received many testimonials from clients detailing the success of their partnerships, and the level of trust that they have placed in her capabilities. An example of one such testimonial is from Bogart Butler, Plant and Technical Manager of SABMiller Namibia from 2014 to 2018 and presently the Plant Director of dsm-firmenich South Africa. “Michele has consulted to us at the Brewery from 2015 to 2018, giving us the tools and knowledge to communicate meaningfully with each other, build ourselves and our teams, and to move beyond being individuals to be one cohesive whole,” he writes. “She was instrumental in us winning two awards in 2018, for Engaging Leadership and Champion Leaders. “The time and dedication Michele gave us when on site and even when from afar, whenever we had questions or needed insight, was immense; she became part of the family and her infectious enthusiasm for coaching the teams and individuals, whether the top boss or the floor sweeper, won all of us over in transitioning to an open, communicative, and trusting team. I have always loved working with Michele and will always look to bring her in whenever there is an opportunity to have the best coach I have ever worked with at my side. Michele is calm, knowledgeable, experienced, and fun to work with; anyone not looking to have her on their team is missing out.” As for the future, Blue Streak Performance will be focused on continual improvement, both for itself and its clientele. As a leader in the development industry, Michele understands the power of continuous learning and has set her sights on a number of new qualifications she hopes to achieve in the next year. In addition to this, she will also be building a “sales coach in a box”- self-manage tool to add to her suite of offerings, a creative project that is high on her list of priorities. “I will always want to be the personalised small business that I am now, one that my clients trust with their personal development and their business growth,” Michele states. “But I am growing and, as I grow, I would definitely prefer to be doing more speaking engagements more and spending less time in the front of the room, focusing more on developing the resources I have that enable me to be in the room with my clients. My focus moving forward will be on sales coaching and development, as that is where my passion lies; ultimately, we are all “selling”, all the time.” Contact: Michele Kruse Company: Blue Streak Performance Web Address: https://bluestreakperformance.com/

Corporate Vision Best Sustainable Hotel 2024 – British Columbia & FamilyOperated Tourism Company of the Year 2024 – British Columbia Fernie is a small town with a vibrant culture that can be found in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in British Columbia. From strolling around the Historic Downtown, watching chocolate being made the old fashioned way, drinking in the breathtaking scenery of Fairy Creek Falls, or simply relaxing in the serenity of the mountains, there is something for everyone visiting Fernie. When exploring the wonders that Fernie has to offer, why not stay at the delightful Fernie Fox Hotel, a sustainable, family-operated hotel that has been recently named in the Small Business Awards 2024. Here, we speak with Jeremiah Pauw, Owner of The Fernie Fox Hotel, to find out more. The Fernie Fox Hotel is a boutique hotel striving to be recognised as the most sustainable hotel in British Columbia. The hotel has been owned and operated by Jeremiah and Marina Pauw, initially Super 8 Fernie underneath the Super 8 banner, though the couple decided to strike out on their own and transformed the hotel into The Fernie Fox in 2020. With the striking logo of an orange fox, The Fernie Hotel symbolises Jeremiah and Marina’s commitment to preserving nature through sustainable practices. The hotel is conveniently located on Highway 3, making it the ideal destination for anybody wanting to visit the town’s many attractions. The Fernie Fox Hotel offers guests an expansive range of amenities, including pet friendly rooms, free Wi-Fi, free guest laundry, full modern guest kitchen, a meeting room with a board table, a large covered outdoor deck with a BBQ, an outdoor hot tub, ski and bike storage, ski and town shuttles in the winter, and two EV car chargers. At the hotel’s core lies a deep commitment to sustainability, a dedication that underpins every aspect of its operations. “Our core values are to be uncompromising in building a sustainable business,” says Jeremiah. “From environmental sustainability to community sustainability to economic sustainability, we are always seeking new ways to improve our operations, our community, and the environmental impacts of our business. Our overall mission is to deliver as a leader in hospitality and business sustainability.” Since its establishment, The Fernie Fox Hotel has eliminated single use plastics across all guest services and in-house functions. The hotel generates electricity for onsite demands via a 53.4kW solar array, managed by a Control4 power management system, and is also the only hotel in Fernie and its nearby communities to offer onsite, complimentary charging for guests’ electric vehicles. The hospitality market is highly competitive, and Fernie is quickly becoming an international four-season destination for travellers seeking outdoor adventure. In order to remain relevant in such a dynamic landscape, establishments must strive to identify and cultivate their individuality to stand out in the crowded market. Sustainable tourism is on the rise, as travellers are becoming more conscious of the impact their plans may have on the environment. Now, guests are opting for hotels that champion the shift to greener operations and will avoid those identified as greenwashing or environmentally unfriendly. “Our competitive advantages are our focus on value and sustainability,” Jeremiah states. “No other hotel has taken as many steps to minimise the environmental impacts of their operations, which gives us both a marketing advantage in terms of attracting guests to the impact their travel has, but also a business advantage in that the investments we have made have improved our profitability and minimised the impacts of external factors.” Since its rebranding, The Fernie Fox Hotel has succeeded in establishing itself as a warm, welcoming, and green environment for travellers visiting Fernie. The hotel is operated by a small but mighty team, working together as a family to achieve success. Jeremiah tells us that the team treat each other like family and are supported and encouraged to be valuable members to not only the hotel, but the Fernie community at large. The team is provided with ongoing training opportunities and initiatives to volunteer within the community, all in order to cultivate an encouraging environment that thrives on personal and professional development. This working environment has enabled The Fernie Fox Hotel to build a stellar reputation, driven by the numerous five-star reviews left for the hotel on TripAdvisor. “The room was clean, staff super helpful and very friendly,” writes Michelle. “I also love that The Fernie Fox Hotel is sustainable and has such great amenities on site, such as a guest washer and dryer, kitchen, BBQ, hot tub, and a water refill station. I will definitely be a repeat customer!”

Small Business Awards 2024 | 9 “The Fernie Fox Hotel surpassed my expectations,” says James. “It was an excellent staff experience; everyone was available at all hours to help. The hotel is locally owned, and the pride shows in the service and cleanliness, and on top of that, they do an excellent job of running an environmentally sustainable business. Well done!” “What a great hotel!” reviews M. “I loved that The Fernie Fox Hotel’s business model and actions reflect sustainable operations. It has comfy beds, a nice outdoor hot tub, easy access to the downtown area, plenty of parking, and friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely stay there again.” “I had a very clean and comfortable bed,” reports Pam. “I appreciate the environmental and self-sustaining approach. The hotel is very quiet, and the staff are friendly. The coffee in the foyer is local and delicious. I would definitely come back to The Fernie Fox Hotel.” As evidenced by countless glowing testimonials, The Fernie Fox Hotel has left a lasting impression on many happy guests, renowned for its high standards of service and cleanliness, and its deep-rooted commitment to environmental preservation through sustainable operations. The hotel has done a remarkable job in providing travellers with a greener option in Fernie that does not compromise on quality in favour of sustainability, but rather has perfected an expert blend of the two. Looking forward, Jeremiah tells us that The Fernie Fox Hotel has a number of exciting, yet top-secret, plans for the future. “The next 1836 months are looking very exciting,” he says, “with plans still in the early stages for an addition to our business, though we are not yet ready to reveal.” With such a proven track record of success, it is clear that whatever plans the hotel is developing will be nothing short of excellent. We at Corporate Vision magazine cannot wait to see what is next for The Fernie Fox Hotel, as it continues on its mission to become the most sustainable hotel in British Columbia. Corporate Vision Schools Soft Services Procurement Supplier of the Year 2024 – UK Located in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, Cohesion Consulting is a leading consulting firm that specialises in helping schools and trusts across England manage and procure a number of key support services, such as catering, cleaning, waste management, and ICT services. Operating as an expert within its client’s own team, Cohesion Consulting has established a stellar reputation for soft services solutions. Here, we speak with Glenn Campbell, Founder of Cohesion Consulting, as the firm receives its title in the Small Business Awards 2024. Cohesion Consulting was formed when Founder Glenn Campell spotted a gap in the education market for soft services consultancy, specifically the lack of focus given to effectively managing the working relationships between schools, consultants, and contractors. The firm offers fully managed procurement services, contract management, conflict resolution, and troubleshooting services in the areas of catering, cleaning, ICT services, waste management, FM, and planned preventative maintenance. The firm operates as an extension of its client’s team, enabling them to form strong, collaborative working partnerships with their contractors. From there, Cohesion Consulting ensures that all parties work together to deliver strong educational outcomes and better life chances for students throughout the country. The firm remains pragmatic and sympathetic in its approach, with a resolute focus on delivering the most optimal outcomes for its clients and their students. “We want the very best for our clients and their students, and we work hard to achieve that,” Glenn tells us. “We’re goal oriented and focus our efforts on our clients aims in every project and procurement we manage. We operate in a dynamic and pressured environment and our values of capability, integrity, and agility are critical for the success of our projects.” When undertaking a project, Cohesion Consulting understands that it is representing both its clients and their suppliers, making for a very nuanced process. The firm believes that the key to successfully navigating this is by taking a robust approach, with a strong focus on the little details, which often have the biggest impact on the overall project. Cohesion Consulting combines its technical knowledge with the strong partnerships it has built across the industry to act as the missing link in the soft service procurement process. In this competitive industry, Cohesion Consulting is continually focused on improving its processed and approach. Whilst the firm specialises in education, it manages a diverse service with multiple suppliers, all of whom possess their own unique approach and methodology. In order to retain the level of flexibility required to successfully navigate this variety, Cohesion Consulting strives to stay abreast of sector changes and stand out as a key player in the market. “Our unique selling point is that our approach is holistic, and we are continually evolving,” says Glenn. “Our core values underpin strong collaboration, and our team work closely together to look at challenges and create bespoke solutions for each individual project. This is further supported by our flexibility and honesty. Every problem has a solution, and we love a challenge.” The team behind Cohesion Consulting is certainly equipped to deal with any and all challenges that may arise, consisting of seven professionals who are all specialists within their fields. The firm is highly specialised in its approach and the systems it uses, and so acknowledges that the perfect candidate does not exist. Instead, it prefers to find the right person and develop their capabilities over time. When hiring new employees, Cohesion Consulting looks for a strong sense of purpose, a moral compass, and a laser focus on client support. Ultimately, Cohesion Consulting is committed to its client and student outcomes. The firm does not actively sell or seek out opportunities, preferring to work on recommendations and put its time into existing client relationships. This slow burn model is entirely consistent with Cohesion Consulting’s values and enables the firm to maintain its client-centric approach for which it has become renowned. We learn that, moving forward, Cohesion Consulting will continue to provide superb services, in addition to giving back to its community. In 2023, the firm helped to design and launch the Tower Hamlets Universal Free School Meals project and the Southwark Council Universal Credit Free School Meals project. “We love to manage at least one public service project each year,” Glenn tells us. “We’re currently working with School Food Matters on the Cost of a School Meal project and will continue to support projects like this in the future. We have recently launched support services for in-house schools in September 2024, and our 2025 pipeline is healthy.” Contact: Glenn Campbell Company: Cohesion Consulting Ltd Web Address: https://www.cohesionconsulting.co.uk
