Small Business Awards 2024

Corporate Vision Schools Soft Services Procurement Supplier of the Year 2024 – UK Located in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, Cohesion Consulting is a leading consulting firm that specialises in helping schools and trusts across England manage and procure a number of key support services, such as catering, cleaning, waste management, and ICT services. Operating as an expert within its client’s own team, Cohesion Consulting has established a stellar reputation for soft services solutions. Here, we speak with Glenn Campbell, Founder of Cohesion Consulting, as the firm receives its title in the Small Business Awards 2024. Cohesion Consulting was formed when Founder Glenn Campell spotted a gap in the education market for soft services consultancy, specifically the lack of focus given to effectively managing the working relationships between schools, consultants, and contractors. The firm offers fully managed procurement services, contract management, conflict resolution, and troubleshooting services in the areas of catering, cleaning, ICT services, waste management, FM, and planned preventative maintenance. The firm operates as an extension of its client’s team, enabling them to form strong, collaborative working partnerships with their contractors. From there, Cohesion Consulting ensures that all parties work together to deliver strong educational outcomes and better life chances for students throughout the country. The firm remains pragmatic and sympathetic in its approach, with a resolute focus on delivering the most optimal outcomes for its clients and their students. “We want the very best for our clients and their students, and we work hard to achieve that,” Glenn tells us. “We’re goal oriented and focus our efforts on our clients aims in every project and procurement we manage. We operate in a dynamic and pressured environment and our values of capability, integrity, and agility are critical for the success of our projects.” When undertaking a project, Cohesion Consulting understands that it is representing both its clients and their suppliers, making for a very nuanced process. The firm believes that the key to successfully navigating this is by taking a robust approach, with a strong focus on the little details, which often have the biggest impact on the overall project. Cohesion Consulting combines its technical knowledge with the strong partnerships it has built across the industry to act as the missing link in the soft service procurement process. In this competitive industry, Cohesion Consulting is continually focused on improving its processed and approach. Whilst the firm specialises in education, it manages a diverse service with multiple suppliers, all of whom possess their own unique approach and methodology. In order to retain the level of flexibility required to successfully navigate this variety, Cohesion Consulting strives to stay abreast of sector changes and stand out as a key player in the market. “Our unique selling point is that our approach is holistic, and we are continually evolving,” says Glenn. “Our core values underpin strong collaboration, and our team work closely together to look at challenges and create bespoke solutions for each individual project. This is further supported by our flexibility and honesty. Every problem has a solution, and we love a challenge.” The team behind Cohesion Consulting is certainly equipped to deal with any and all challenges that may arise, consisting of seven professionals who are all specialists within their fields. The firm is highly specialised in its approach and the systems it uses, and so acknowledges that the perfect candidate does not exist. Instead, it prefers to find the right person and develop their capabilities over time. When hiring new employees, Cohesion Consulting looks for a strong sense of purpose, a moral compass, and a laser focus on client support. Ultimately, Cohesion Consulting is committed to its client and student outcomes. The firm does not actively sell or seek out opportunities, preferring to work on recommendations and put its time into existing client relationships. This slow burn model is entirely consistent with Cohesion Consulting’s values and enables the firm to maintain its client-centric approach for which it has become renowned. We learn that, moving forward, Cohesion Consulting will continue to provide superb services, in addition to giving back to its community. In 2023, the firm helped to design and launch the Tower Hamlets Universal Free School Meals project and the Southwark Council Universal Credit Free School Meals project. “We love to manage at least one public service project each year,” Glenn tells us. “We’re currently working with School Food Matters on the Cost of a School Meal project and will continue to support projects like this in the future. We have recently launched support services for in-house schools in September 2024, and our 2025 pipeline is healthy.” Contact: Glenn Campbell Company: Cohesion Consulting Ltd Web Address: https://www.cohesionconsulting.co.uk
